Extractions, Dentures & Overdentures

Dr. Krajekian provides comprehensive solutions for patients needing multiple extractions and tooth replacement, from immediate dentures to implant-supported overdentures that function like natural teeth.

    Full-Mouth Extractions

When teeth cannot be saved due to:

    • Severe periodontal disease
    • Extensive decay
    • Failed root canals
    • Trauma
    • Preparation for dentures or implants

    Surgical Approach

    • Full anesthesia options (IV sedation or general anesthesia)
    • All extractions in one comfortable appointment
    • Immediate placement of healing prosthesis
    • Bone preservation techniques when appropriate

    Denture Options

    Immediate Dentures

Fabricated before extractions and inserted the same day. Serves as both a bandage and provides aesthetics during healing. Requires adjustment as tissues remodel.

    Conventional Dentures

Made after healing is complete (3–6 months). Offers a better initial fit but requires time without teeth.

    Limitations of Traditional Dentures

    • Bone resorption over time
    • Decreasing stability
    • Difficulty chewing
    • Discomfort and sore spots
    • Social embarrassment

    Implant-Supported Overdentures

A solution that combines implants with a removable denture for added stability:

    • Snaps securely onto implants, no adhesives needed
    • Improved chewing ability
    • Slows bone resorption
    • Easy to clean
    • More affordable than fixed implant prosthetics

Options include 2-implant overdentures (lower jaw minimum), 4-implant overdentures, bar-retained overdentures, and locator attachment systems.

    Fixed vs. Removable Solutions

    Implant-Supported Overdenture (Removable)

    • 2–4 implants
    • Patient removes for cleaning
    • More affordable with easier maintenance
    • Still covers palate (upper)

    All-on-4 / Fixed Hybrid (Permanent)

    • 4–6 implants
    • Fixed prosthesis (not removable)
    • Functions like natural teeth
    • No palate coverage
    • Premium solution
